Overcoming a high-rise challenge in Copenhagen

The prestigious Marriott International Inc. chain had grand plans for its 5-star Bella Sky Hotel in Copenhagen: the ownership wanted to modernise the building and completely reformulate the logistics and functions of its kitchen, in order to also offer more refined East Asian cuisine alongside international dishes. The designers and the Marriott’s chefs accepted the challenge to equip the kitchen situated on the 23rd floor (the top floor of one of the hotel’s two leaning towers, with all the difficulties

involved in such an operation) with the most versatile professional cooking systems. They began a world tour in search of solutions and ideas, meeting with the very best interior designers in the sector, studying similar projects and seeking expert advice. Last October, on the advice of the Danish distributor Bronnum, they came to visit our showroom in Tribano, in search a successful solution to overcome this challenge. In the end, they found the solution together with our La Cucina division, which

designs fully customisable cooking systems. The Berto's engineers resolved the transportability problem by creating - especially for the Bella Sky Hotel - a monoblock kitchen made up of two units that could be welded together on site; and the first challenge on the 23rd floor of the Bella Sky had been overcome. They could now face the second challenge of creating a kitchen that combined both induction cooktops and the most advanced technology (the monoblock is equipped with

Bflex controls, the new innovative electronic system patented by Berto's) with technical cooking solutions suitable for the preparation of typical Cantonese dim sum dishes and the grills required for the ancient cooking systems for Japanese robatayaki cuisine. Berto's is also making a name for itself in the international panorama of "fusion" solutions, and has recently also installed a similar monoblock kitchen at the Mahè resort in the Seychelles for the international Four Seasons hotel

chain. The Marriott’s new kitchen was delivered just a few days ago and is in its final stages of installation, so between a business trip, a visit to Hamlet’s Castle and a walk from the harbour to the Amalienborg Palace, guests at the Danish Bella Sky will shortly be able to enjoy a truly "international" cuisine on this rooftop in Copenhagen.
