Bellavita Expo 2017
The best of Italian agrofood traditions in the heart of London.
The Business Design Centre, at 52 Upper Street, is a smart congress centre just a short walk from the City and the heart of London. It was built in 1862 and subsequent renovations have given it is current architecture, a fascinating mixture of art deco and 19th century English industrial archaeology. Today this jewel is considered one of the best business centres in the capital, and the more than 300 events every year confirm its appeal. So it was no surprise that such an elegant and prestigious location was chosen for Bellavita Expo throughout the year with 5 international dates, an event to promote and spread knowledge of the best of Italian agrofood design, its excellences and top quality products: besides the London event from 18th to 20th June, there will also be this year Warsaw, Chicago, Mexico City and Amsterdam.
The main aim of the organisers of Bellavita Expo, to use their words: “is to be an ambassador for the best of Italian wine and food, telling the story of Italy in a journey of flavours, culture and regional specialities, a unique opportunity to taste the best products and meet the most professional buyers and experts in this field”. An aim that was achieved by organising a series of events during the Expo, with show cooking, food academy, pizza academy, bar academy among the 100 stands. Claudio Sadler, Giorgio Locatelli, Felice Lo Basso, Terry Giacomello and Niko Romito were just some of the Italian chefs, with restaurants in Italy and London, who worked during the three days of Expo on the Berto’s Isola S700 cooker (Berto’s participated for the first time at Bellavita thanks to the cooperation between the Area Manager Stefano Casanova and the foodservice equipment company “Ascentia” of Chris Kelly).
To season it all more, there were the 45 minute Masterclass, round tables and stellar interventions, foodscapes (the new trend that unites cooking, design techniques and theatrical performances), cocktails prepared by the IBA champions (International Bartender Association), as well as announcing the winner of the title of Best English Sommelier 2017.
Bellavita Expo is considered one of the most important Made in Italy promotional events in Britain, and the refined stands, rich programme of events, great public success and number of Michelin stars on show in London are all the confirmation of this.
